Need Help Please

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if someone can tell me

"Can I claim my daughters care allowance even if I'm on long term incapacity benefit?"

My wife has always been paid it but now my wife feels that she would like to go back to work as I'm no longer able to work due to health problems and she has been told she would lose our daughters care allowance so we was wondering if I can now claim it

Look forward to any replies on this matter

Thanks Kindly Nigel

Hi Nigel, i can tell you that i am giving factual information, you will not be able to claim carers while on incapacity benefit, this is due to the incapacity benefit being higher than carers, i was awarded carers but not paid any money as i was on incapacity, when i came off incapacity in june i then qualified for payment of carers. If you wife gets a part time job and takes home no more than £95 per weeks she is still elligable for carers, remember you may also be entiltled to other help such as tax credits, council tax and housing benefits on top of this. Weigh up the benefits of if it would suit you financially for your wife to work full time, or part time and still claim carers, which would bring in the most money? Smile emoticon
