called the carers today and told them that my daughter has started to claim incapacity benefit in her own right. I asked if my carers allowance for her would be affected. She said that because i was only claiming carers allowance and that it was my daughter who was claiming incapacity benefit that my carers allowance would not be affected. It would only be affected if i was claiming incapacity benefit for myself, then i would not be allowed to claim carers. Just wanted to know if anybody else knew this. I dont claim anything else for her because i am not allowed to claim child tax credits or child benefit for her.
