The itea and biscuits web chat this Thursday evening is your chance to ask an expert about equipment that promotes independence in the home. If you want to know what adaptation would suit your circumstances best, join us in the chat room between 7 and 8 pm.
Michael Roche is Age Concern's Social Care information specialist. Michael qualified as an occupational therapist (OT) in 1992. After initially working in the NHS, from 1994 onwards, he worked as a local authority OT. He’s worked at ACE since 2007.
Whether you're an older carer or you're looking after an elderly relative, why not join us to chat to Michael and other carers about the issues affecting you.
The main aim of itea and biscuits is to promote the benefits and opportunities technology and computers can offer older people - it's about ensuring you are aware of and have access to services that help you live life to the full.Sam_B

Re: Silver Surfers Web Chat - 11 Sept
Tue 9 Sep 2008 16:28Hi all,
We have a last minute change as Michael can no longer make it this Thursday, but the chat is still very much going ahead, with a slight change in focus:
Sheelagh Donovan, Health and Community Care information specialist at Age Concern England will now be coming into the chat room as our guest host. Her area of expertise is maintaining your health and using / making the most of NHS services.
Some more info about Sheelagh:
Sheelagh qualified as a nutritionist in 1973 and worked in the field of nutrition education until 1993. After working on a nutrition project in India for a year she changed direction and worked for the NHS Information Service - Healthpoint. (Healthpoint was a local NHS telephone helpline service for patients in South London, Surrey and Sussex and one of the predecessors of the national information service now provided by NHS Direct). After 2 years with Healthpoint she moved in 1997 to an employee helpline where her role was to help and support staff with “work / life” balance issues. These ranged from finding childcare when returning to work after maternity leave, to finding a school when moving house, to helping adult children understand the care system when they realised their parents were not coping well at home. She moved to Age Concern in 2002 where she works as their Health Information Specialist.
Hope to see you there on Thursday from 7pm for chat around these issues and expert advice.
Michele
