Re: What Restpite???
Thu 31 Jan 2008 23:05I know how tiring hospital visiting is. I used to think sitting visiting OH in hospital would be a bit of a rest for me but it's not - you seem to come out tireder than ever.

Re: What Restpite???
Fri 1 Feb 2008 16:38We are having a hell of a time to get some restpite as no one at the moment in my area can take my wife and her wheelchair although her Care manager says he is working on it (he is as usful as a chocolate tea pot )

Hello Loopy
OH stands for other half meaning husband/wife/partner.
Thank goodness I am a whole one which is just as well I just can't imagine how it would affect those around me if there was another half to me!
Betty
I hope you managed to get some rest eventually.
This reminds me of the time my Mam was alive when my son would go into respite everyone thought I was in for getting a well earned rest. What they forgot was I still had to care for my Mam 24/7 which at the time she was very demanding due to her health condition.
Take care all
love

Can they arrange respite in your own home?
We did this, through social services last September as I wanted 4 nights extra care (we already got 2 a week!)
Our PA who is our daughter moved back in to our home with OH to let me get away for the 6 night break and it worked out really well for us!

Re: What Restpite???
Mon 11 Feb 2008 21:22Now that George is home, i might get some rest as there was so much happening..I had to empty the attic as the housing assocation wanted to relag the floor. to make it warmer. then had the aerial replaced to digi in the attic so i got it done before George came hame. The days i was'nt busy were really relaxing. Not having to listen for him needing me to change him....
George is a lot better now, he enjoyed his stay at the home. Thank you all for your kind words and thoughts..... Betty x x
