Official Charity of the Big Fun Run

The Big Fun Run LogoNo matter who you are you can vote with your feet to help carers.

Are you an elite endurance athlete or does running the tap leave you breathless? Few of us are as fit as we would like to be. But we all feel a little envy when we see the charity runners in events like the Flora London Marathon earning the adulation of thousands of spectators by overcoming exhaustion and self-doubt to cross the finish line.

Thanks to The Big Fun Run your share of the glory is within reach. Whether you plan to walk with the crowd or break from the front for a personal best, there are events across the UK this September and October that will test your mettle.

There is no minimum level for the sponsorship you need to raise. Every penny helps, but you may be surprised how keen your friends and relatives will be to support you.

Each event is five kilometres, which is just over three miles.

Entry £7.50 for adults (£5.50 concessions).

ENTER online at The Big Fun Run and pick us from the list of charities.

OR contact us on 07791 230261 during office hours for a postal application form.

The Tour de Butlins Cycle Challenge 2008: 1 - 6 June

The Tour de Butlins team complete the challenge.Well they did it!!! The amazing team of cyclists from Butlins are no longer “novices” having completed the 479 miles between all three Butlins resorts.

Having endured torrential rain, blistering sunshine, the wrath of a few motorists and “Cow Poo” our heroes completed the six day challenge in one piece, albeit a tad “saddle sore”. You can read all about their adventures on the tour blog.

En route the team visited three Carers Centres at Sandwell; Gloucester and Salisbury so a big thank you to all the staff, carers, local dignitaries and guests who turned out to support the team and carers.

Thanks also to the extremely generous support of teams at Butlins Resorts as well as our sponsors Profero; Coca-Cola; Garmin; Morrisons; VK Vodka Kick; Atlantic Foods; IHG Hotel Group

The team are well on their way to raising a whopping £20,000. And you can still help them to reach their goal. Click here to sponsor them.

24 Hours Carers Portrait Exhibition: 2007 - 2009

Nan and Brenda© Hannah Hills, 200724 hours is a series of portraits of carers, each one showing the carer seated on the sofa in their own home alongside the person they care for. First launched in 2007, the exhibition is touring museums and galleries throughout Scotland until 2009.

The portraits were taken by Hannah Hills, a rising young star in portrait photography, who says:

"One of the enduring memories from visiting everyone is the laughter and great sense of humour, often in very difficult circumstances. It was a privilege to be involved in this project and to see the work of The Princess Royal Trust for Carers at first hand."
